Dr. Zachary Thompson
Dr. Zachary Thompson brings both technical precision and genuine compassion to every patient interaction at Thompson Dental. A Southern California native, he grew up watching his father, Dr. Sean Thompson, help patients overcome dental anxiety and restore their smiles, inspiring Dr. Zachary to follow in his footsteps.
A Comprehensive Path Through Dentistry
Dr. Zachary's journey has been thorough and hands-on. He began as a dental assistant in 2015, earning firsthand experience in patient care and clinical operations. In 2016, he became a registered dental hygienist after earning his Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from West Coast University, spending years building relationships with patients and understanding their concerns from the hygiene chair. This foundation gave him unique insight into the patient experience before he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California in 2023.
Transforming Dental Anxiety into Trust
What drives Dr. Zachary most is transforming negative dental experiences into positive ones. He understands that many patients carry dental anxiety or past trauma, and he considers it an honor to help them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. His calm demeanor, patience, and attention to detail help even the most anxious patients feel at ease.
Beyond the Dental Chair
Outside the practice, Dr. Zachary maintains the same level of dedication and discipline he brings to dentistry. An ultramarathon runner, he has completed 100-mile races through some of the most challenging terrain. He's also an avid surfer, weightlifter, and outdoor enthusiast who loves camping and spending time in the mountains. In a unique blend of athleticism and creativity, Dr. Zachary has authored a book titled What the Enemy Meant for Evil, that was released in early 2026.
Thompson Dental is an exceptional dentist office. Dr. Sean and his son, Dr. Zachary are so calm, friendly and knowledgeable. They put you at ease immediately. You know that you are in good hands. Sandy, the office manager, is so kind and helpful and works with you to make your appointment go smoothly. All of the office staff greets you with a smile and asks how you are doing. All of the dental work, a bridge, an implant and new crowns across the front of my mouth have given me the confidence to smile and not cover my mouth. They simply are life changing dentists.
